How a Supervisor signs off the ESR:
Below we list the steps a Supervisor must follow to complete the ESR sign off process.
- First click on Go to the Supervisor's Area from the Dashboard and then click on the resident doctor's name of the ESR you are going to complete:
- Once you are in your resident doctor's Portfolio, scroll down and click on Prepare in Portfolio Summary box (below shows a trainee on the Core curriculum). You can check here at a glance, the trainees sign offs and date these were completed (green box):
- This will take you to a page called ESR: STX-X preparation. Ensure the resident doctor has completed the Time out of Training and the ESR sign off process. You can prompt the resident doctor to complete these through the direct Messages form the Portfolio overview page.
- Next you need to click Edit ESR Core from the page menu. This can be done while the trainee completes step 3 as it can be saved (see below):
- This will open the page to enable you to fill in your sections of the ESR evidence.
- At the bottom of the page you can then either click Save or Complete & Submit to complete the ESR from this page:
You must confirm the sign off here:
You will be taken to the Training Map page where you get a confirmatory banner and the Report lozenge now appears green (locked/completed):
7. As you can see below, if the resident doctor has not completed their sign offs, there is only the option to Save:
If you click Save you are taken back to the ESR: STX-X preparation screen. You can then click Sign off ESR Core when the resident doctor has completed their ESR preparation:
