ESR stands for Educational Supervisor Report and can refer to either the review meeting itself or the finalised written report. On FourteenFish the system generally relates to the latter.
This is noted on your Training Map as Report and is a grey lozenge when open for editing, and a green lozenge when the report is signed off. This closes/locks the Review Period leading up to the ESR Report.
Who completes the ESR?
The Educational Supervisor (ES) completes the ESR.
When a resident doctor reaches the end of a Review Period, they will have consolidated their Learning Logs and Assessments to show Curriculum progression and complete the necessary declarations in the ESR Prepare section. All PDP ideas for the coming year should be included before the Supervisor review.
The ES will review this information, add their observations and help the Registrar set objectives for the next Review Period.
The ES will sign off the ESR first and then the Registrar will review the content then complete their own sign off to lock the ESR and produce the report.
At this point a new Review Period needs to be created and the completed ESR is available to view on the Training Map, as a green lozenge or from the list view below the map.
ESR Logic in date progression:
The Review Period period is closed when the ESR Report is signed off by Supervisor. This might be before the end of your current placement or post. This is so that your ARCP will have the appropriate ESRs to review with Supervisor 'approved' training progression data.
You may find that you need to keep collecting Entries and Assessments in the ongoing post. This should be included in the new Review Period that is created after the sign off of the last Report. The ARCP will have access to all your training data and can review what is not formally included in the ESR, if it is relevant, but it is not essential that the Review Periods and the Report date ranges match the Placement or Post date ranges exactly.
On FourteenFish it is accepted that some recorded evidence will bleed into the next Review Period for the next post.
