As an RCOphth trainee / Non-NTN doctor, you may find some of the terminology used on FourteenFish a little different to what you are used to in your training.
Below we detail how your training is broken down on your Training Map and explain these differences:
Review Periods (Rotation/Post)
The College tend to use the term 'Review Period' to describe a year of training ending with an ARCP but FourteenFish use this term to refer to a 6 month time frame, which ends with an ESR. Generally 2 review periods need to be completed to complete a year of training to be reviewed by ARCP.
Our use of Review Period is therefore more in line with what, in your training, is described as the 'Rotation' or 'Post'.
More about Review Periods can be found in our Help Article here.
Stage of Training (Level / ST year)
RCOphth trainees/non NTN doctors have 7 Stages of Training (ST1-7) and that any trainee on the New Curriculum will be covering these across Levels 1 - 4.
There is currently no 'Level' field on FourteenFish at present, and therefore what your Stage of Training lozenge currently shows will be dependent on the Curriculum you are following:
Old curriculum: your Stage of Training lozenge will show the current stage you are working towards
New curriculum: your Stage of Training lozenge will show the current Level you are working on
More about Stages of Training can be found in our Help Article here.
Posts (Stage of Training)
As there is currently no 'Level' field to list, your Post lozenge currently shows the current Stage of Training you are working towards, regardless of which curriculum you are following.
If you are on the old curriculum, both your Post and Stage of Training will list the same information, which is usually ST6 or ST7.
