RCOphth: Who creates Review Periods?

This will depend on the current status of a trainee's Portfolio.

Trainees

If an ESR has recently been signed off and the Educational Supervisor has not created a new Review Period, the Trainee will be able to create themselves a new Review Period from the Training Map.

Supervisors

Usually, when an ESR is signed off the Educational Supervisor has the ability to create a new Review Period for the trainee to start working on straight away from the Training Map for that trainee.

Hospital Tutors or Programme Directors

In rare occasions training managers will need to create new review periods, but this will not be the norm as Trainees own their own portfolios with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
