ESR stands for Educational Supervisor's Review. It's an opportunity for you and your Educational Supervisor to evaluate your progress and make sure there are no problems.
During your Review Period you'll need to continuously record Learning Logs that demonstrate what you have been doing. These will be logged in the specified Review Period and evaluated in the ESR. You can log as many pieces of evidence as you want to for an ESR.
An ESR happens at the end of each Review Period (6 months) and both you and your Supervisor need to sign it off.
What does Signing Off an ESR mean?
At the end of every Review Period you and your Supervisor need to 'sign off' the ESR. This means that you and your Supervisor will need to agree that the information you have logged in your Review Period is an accurate reflection of your training. It also gives both of you the opportunity to evaluate your progress. If you are signing off the first ESR in your ST (Stage of Training) Phase, a second Review Period will need to be created for the second half of your training year, which is completed by your Deanery Admin Team or ES.
First, you will have to self-evaluate your progress based on the 13 Capabilities and include all the evidence that you wish to for that Review Period - there will be prompts of what you need to do and the specific process for this.
As soon as you have completed your self evaluation the ESR will then be sent to your Supervisor for assessment. Your Supervisor will review and evaluate all the evidence you have provided in your ESR for that Review Period. They will provide comments, feedback and then sign the ESR off.
Your ESR will then be sent back to you so that you can review all of the comments and feedback your Supervisor has made regarding your progress in that specific Review Period. Once you have reviewed the comments and feedback, you will need to sign the ESR off as completed, which will then lock the ESR and mark it as completed.
Please note that once the ESR is locked and marked as completed, you cannot make any further changes to it.

Why are the review periods 6 months? this makes no sense as the majority of placements are 4 months.
surly the supervisor reports should reflect this with: a beginning of post planning meeting and end of post sign off before rotating to next specialist. with optional midpoint reviews if required.
