A Placement Planning Meeting is a record that the trainee completes to log the initial planning meeting that they have with their Clinical Supervisor. It should include opportunities and objectives that are appropriate for this post. Often these can be added as PDP items also. It is mandatory that a placement planning meeting is recorded by the trainee for each new post. It links in particular to Working with colleagues and in teams, Fitness to practice, and Organisation, management and learning.
Example learning logs
You can find worked examples of log entries on the RCGP website.

who generates the placement planning meeting?
I am a clinical supervisor. I met with my trainee at the start of their placement. I logged in but could not figure out how enter the evidence of the meeting and its outcome.

I am also unable to enter this - any ideas?
The TRAINEE writes up the replacement planning meeting as a learning log entry. If CS or ES wishes to record too they should use an EDUCATORS NOTE. Hope this helps
I must admit I am a little frustrated. New trainer and fourteen fish do not reply fast enough. What is exactly suppose to go into the placement planning meeting. Where to trainees do their PDPs? Any advise welcome
This system seems suboptimal.
Hi Fuad,
FourteenFish provide the portfolio but it is the RCGP that create the log entries and guidance on how to complete them. Placement planning meetings are completed by the trainee following a placement planning meeting with their clinical supervisor. This is a form of learning log and all learning logs are completed by the trainees and not the trainer. Trainees write their PDPs in the PDP section on the right of the portfolio. More information can be found here: https://support.fourteenfish.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360006501138-Changes-for-PDP-in-the-FourteenFish-EPortfolio- or on the RCGP website.
